Alexander the Great, beginning in Macedonia (north of Greece) conquered the Egyptian and Mesopotamian Empires in the 330s; he made it all the way to India before dying (after a heavy bout of drinking).

After his death, his empire was divided between three of his generals:

Greece went to Antigonos

Egypt went to Ptolemy
